Early this spring a patron, Brandon LaGreca, sent me information about a program offering Radio Frequency (RF) readers to libraries at a significant discount. Knowing and respecting Brandon’s expertise, I decided that would be an excellent addition to our Library of Things, found donation money from the GFWC Women’s Club to pay for it, and told Brandon I’d be scheduling him to give a talk about it in the fall.
That’s what happens when someone shares a great idea with me.
Thankfully, Brandon LaGreca was more than willing, maybe even more than happy, to run a program for us. Brandon is the founder and director of East Troy Acupuncture located in the Honey Creek Collective. He specializes in whole food nutrition, ancestral health, and environmental medicine. The last led to his first book, Cancer and EMF Radiation: How to Protect Yourself From the Silent Carcinogen of Electropollution and later his email to me.
Once the RF reader arrived, Brandon gave me a demonstration on how it works. We began in my office, which was rather disturbing as the reader went straight to red, the highest in the building due to the presence of the wifi router, my cell phone, and laptop. I don’t think my iPad was there that day, but that would be another source. The reader didn’t switch to green until we were in the nonfiction section where the bookshelves form a barrier.
The following week I tried to recreate the demonstration for staff with no luck. It was a few days later before I realized the hand that held the reader is attached to the arm wearing my smart watch. That adds a fifth source to my office if my iPad is in the office.
On September 24th at 6:00pm, Brandon will present his program Electromagnetic Fields & Their Impact on Our Health. During the program, Brandon will give examples of Electromagnetic Fields, including readio frequency, explain how they impact our health, and give tips on how to avoid or minimize exposure.
On September 25th, I’ll be making some changes to my office and deciding if wearing my watch is worth it.
On September 26th, the ETCSD has an inservice day. Last school year we started showing a family movie on those afternoons and continued to do so over the summer. Now we do so once a month. Our licensing agreement does not allow us to advertise the title in print; however, a call to the library will find it out. The movie starts at 1:30pm and popcorn will be served.
