Summer Begins

It’s officially Summer (Reading Program) at the ETLPL. Sign up, elementary school visits, and massive amounts of programs are beginning. Here’s what we have for you to do this upcoming week.

The first Monday 1:30 family program is Rope Warrior on June 8th. David Fisher holds three Guinness World Records for jump roping including the most completed while reclined on his bottom: 56 in 60 seconds. Our programming space is neither large enough nor tall enough for his demonstration. This one will be held at St Peter’s School gym at 3001 Elm Street in East Troy. Access to the parking lot can be found from Elm or Beulah Streets.

At 3:30 on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, we are bringing back the Trading Card Guild. This was originally created for Pokémon, which Miss Maria can teach. It is open to Magic the Gathering and other card games I’m not cool enough to name without the instruction. Basically, we are offering the program area as a safe place for players to gather together.

New programming beginning June 10th at 1:00-3:00 is Tech Help. Our youngest and most technology savvy librarian, Miss Anna, will be available to work with one navigating a new/stubborn device. Appointments are recommended, but not needed. Forms are available at the library for signing for an appointment and letting Anna know what to expect. That way she can prepare and do any research ahead of time if needed.

Art Attack will continue this summer as a semi-regular program. It moves back to Fridays at 3:15 on June 19th, July 17th & 31st, and August 14th. Registration for the June date closes on June 12th, the Friday before. The craft is a painted banner for the Semiquincentennial. The program is for ALL ages. If you have difficulties registering online, just call the library at 262-642-6262 and we’ll take care of it.

June 12th also marks our closure to make room for the East Troy Lions Club’s Annual Music Festival. We’re taking that as an opportunity to have the carpets cleaned. The following day we are also closed. The Lions have their Kiddie Parade that day, Saturday, July 13th. The ETLPL has provided them with festive bags for each participant to use the following day at the big parade to hold all their candy. They are white with a picture of fireworks the kids can color.
